The Bradley Central girls cross
country team completed their fantastic season by finishing 10th
place in the state meet on Saturday in Nashville. This is the highest
finish ever for a girl’s team at Bradley. Leading the way was Jacquelin
Pitcock who finished 13th in a time of 19:47. By virtue of
her finishing in the top 15 she also earns the distinction of being only
the fourth girl in school history to be named all-state. Following
Jacquelin was Andrea Spencer who placed 57th in a time of
21:45. Just three seconds behind her was Elizabeth Triplett finishing
61st in a time of 21:48 who ran almost a minute under her
personal best. Rounding out the runners for the Bearettes were Becky
Chillinsky 90th (22:27), Abigail Pippenger 119th
(23:06), and Casie Crago 142nd (23:49).
In a season full of ups and downs
the Bearettes found a way to pull together and deliver their best
performance of the year just when it mattered the most. And it should
only get better from here as the entire team is underclassman and will
all be back next year. Who knows what a year will hold, but if this
group of young ladies will work hard and dedicate themselves to
improving, then the sky is the limit.
